Frequently Asked Questions about Employment

How long is the training course?

ARRO's training will last approximately two days. The training will cover everything from basic Autism facts, to the more in-depth needs of a child with Autism. Upon successful completion of the classroom hours, staff will be placed with no less than two children for a total of 100 training hours. Certification will be awarded when both the classroom, and in-home hours have be completed.

How do you match the staff with families?

ARRO has a comprehensive match program where the needs of both families and staff are taken into account.

What if I don't like the family, or the child?

Every staff member has the right to enter into conflict resolution. If this process is unsuccessful, you will be matched with a new family.

Can I take the training if I am currently employed with a family?

Yes, but you need to complete your certification with an ARRO family. Either your family can sign on to ARRO, or you can use other ARRO families to finish your certification hours.

Do I need to take the classroom hours if I have been working with children with Autism for several years?

Experience counts at ARRO. ARRO will be offering three levels of training. For those service providers who have experience, the opportunity will be given to "grandfather" into the higher level training.

Is there an advantage to acquiring the higher level training?

Yes, pay increases as experience and training increase.

I am new to the field of Autism. How can I qualify for the higher training?

Once the level I certification has been awarded, staff qualify for level II etc.

Am I guaranteed a job if I complete the classroom hours?

ARRO will place all competent staff with families as soon as possible.

Do I have to work weekends?

Staff working for ARRO will be expected to work some weekend hours. The amount will vary depending on the needs of the staff and the families.

How much does the training cost?

There is a cost of $100.00 for each level taken. The training fee is refundable as a bonus, upon certification.

What is the pay rate for ARRO staff?

ARRO will pay its staff $10 to $12 per hour based on training and experience. Bonuses will be awarded upon successful completion of every 100 hours.
